1 dead, 7 injured in Bataan road mishap

Balanga City, Bataan — A 42-year-old housewife was killed while seven others, including two children, were seriously injured when a tricycle collided with a car in the national highway in Barangay Saguing, Dinalupihan town on Sunday.

Chief Inspector Rommel Velasco, Dinalupihan police chief, identified the lone fatality as Rosalina Manucom, of Barangay San Benito, Dinalupihan.

Injured were Roberto David of San Benito, Dinalupihan, driver of the Suzuki tricycle; Rodolfo Parcon, 56, of Deanan St.Bar angay Gordon Heights, Olongapo City, the driver of a Daewoo Racer car; Pepiña Parcon, wife of Rodolfo, 52; Jerry May Parcon, 29, of Barangay Kagawad of Gordon Heights; Rodolfo Parcon Jr., 27, sound technician, and his two sons — Jaycee, 8, and Patrick, 6.

The victim was on board a tricycle on her way to Dinalupihan town while the family car of Parcon was traveling in the opposite direction toward Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) at about 5:20 p.m.

Police report showed that the the Daewoo car driven by the elder Parcon tried to overtake a van when it collided head on with the tricycle.Due to the strong impact, the car also hit a truckload of excursionist but no one was reported hurt in the airconditioned RBCG bus bound for Manila. – Raffy Viray
