Dagupan transport strike fizzles out

DAGUPAN CITY A big transport group here did not join yesterdays planned transport strike.
Gerry Sarmiento, secretary-general of the Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide (PISTON) Pangasinan chapter, in an interview over radio station dzSD SuperRadyo said they are not joining the planned three-day transport strike which started yesterday but will definitely join the April 18 planned Welgang Bayan.
Sarmiento said that though they did not join yesterdays transport strike, they still condemn the continous oil price hike in the country.
He said that they are also urging lawmakers to review the oil deregulation law.
Sarmiento also clarified that when they join strikes, they dont harass other drivers who ply their usual route during strikes.
"Buti na lang hindi sumali ang mga transport group dito sa Pangasinan sa strike, mahirap kasi kapag sumali sila apektado lahat lalo na ang mga commuters na katulad ko (It's a good thing that transport groups here in Pangasinan did not join the transport strike. Everybody will be affected, especially commuters like me)," a commuter who rides the jeepney everyday told The STAR in an interview.
