DOTC director shot dead

COTABATO CITY – Unidentified gunmen shot dead the regional director here of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) while he was on his way home on Thursday night.

Police said the fatality, identified as Eleazar Sambra, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot. Sambra’s wife, Amor, was wounded in the attack and is now confined in a hospital here.

Investigators said Sambra, who was with his wife and two other employees of the DOTC-Region 12, were on their way home when motorcycle-riding gunmen overtook their vehicle and opened fire with a caliber .45 pistol.

Police and military probers still have no solid clues to the identities of the suspects and the possible motive for the attack.

Preceding this murder was the brutal killing here last month of Murshid Tutuh, manager of the Regional Ports Authority in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
