A neophyte Antipolo City councilor was shot and wounded by two suspected robbers in his resort yesterday.
Doctors of the Manila East Hospital declared first district councilor Marino Bacani out of danger after extracting a slug from his left cheek.
Police said Bacani took a coffee break at about 1 a.m. after repairing his computer inside his office at the Villa Virginia Resort along Taktak Road in Barangay Sta. Cruz.
On his way back to his office, Bacani saw the two men loitering inside his resort. When he accosted them, one of the two men pulled out a caliber .38 revolver and shot him twice.
The gun misfired, prompting Bacani to attempt to overpower the triggerman. But the latter again hit the trigger and the gun went off, hitting him in the left cheek.
Police suspect that the two men were robbers.
