New CDC head takes over today

- Ric Sapnu, -
CLARK FIELD, Pampanga — Antonio Ng takes over as the new president and chief executive officer of Clark Development Corp. (CDC) today, replacing Emmanuel Angeles.

Angeles introduced Ng to CDC officials and employees in last Monday’s flag-raising ceremony and urged them to give him their cooperation and support.

In his remarks, the new 55-year-old CDC president described the Clark special economic zone as one of the country’s "national treasures that could pump-prime bigger economic potentials in the future."

Ng’s biodata which the CDC public information division earlier distributed showed that the Taiwan Garrison Command awarded him a citation in 1998 "for keeping the peace and achieving harmonious employee relations amid widespread labor strikes in Taiwan."

During the flag-raising ceremony, Ng said he might not surpass Angeles’ achievements but he expressed confidence that with the cooperation and support of CDC officials and personnel, "the momentum that Dr. Angeles established for Clark’s growth would remain."

Ng has had 34 years of professional experience and has held top management positions. He was the first Filipino president and managing director of both Amkor Technology Phils. and Motorola Philippines.

He was a former president and chairman of the Semiconductor and Electronic Industry Association.

Mabalacat Mayor Marino Morales, co-chairman of the Metro Clark Advisory Council (MCAC) and former president of the Pampanga Mayors’ League, lauded Angeles for his "outstanding accomplishments and role in the transformation of the Clark (ecozone) into Asia’s aerotropolis and the leading investment center in the Asia-Pacific region."

For his part, Angeles thanked President Arroyo, the CDC board of directors, led by its chairman, Rizalino Navarro; CDC executive vice president Victor Jose Luciano, local officials, CDC personnel and the media for their support during his four-year presidency of the state-run company.
