Pilot, student die in Lubang plane crash

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna A pilot and his student were killed when their training aircraft a two-seater Piper Tomahawk crashed on Lubang Island in Occidental Mindoro yesterday morning, police said.
Senior Superintendent Chito de los Santos, deputy regional director for operations of the Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) police, identified the fatalities as Air Force Capt. Nestor Mayo and Timothy de Guzman, his student at the Airlink International Aviation School at Nichols Air Base in Pasay City.
Police said the training plane with body number RPC-1655, crashed at about 6:55 a.m. on a peanut farm in Sitio Longos, Barangay Tangol on Lubang Island.
Probers were still investigating the cause of the plane crash. Arnell Ozaeta, Sandy Araneta and Rene Alviar
