TAGAYTAY CITY Two ski mask-wearing, motorcycle-riding men gunned down a barangay chairman of Amadeo, Cavite and critically wounded his three female companions here last Friday night.
Police said Domingo Villasis was on his way to Amadeo from the Tagaytay Highlands Hotel aboard a barangay patrol jeep when he was waylaid at about 6 p.m. in Barangay Iruhin.
Villasis died from multiple gunshot wounds. His companions, Evelyn Halayahay, 25, and Marife Rodil, 24, both employees of the hotel, were rushed to the Ospital ng Tagaytay with several bullet wounds.
Police said a wounded Villasis tried to escape by speeding away but his jeep smashed into a wall, injuring a third female companion, a certain Nenita Malana, 38, said to be a barangay head in Silang town.
Probers are still clueless on the motive behind the ambush.
Meanwhile, in Gen. Trias town, a suspected hired killer long wanted for slayings in Cavite and Bulacan, was killed in a shootout with policemen before dawn yesterday.
Chief Inspector Conrado Gongon, Gen. Trias police chief, said Romulo Suzana, 45, shot it out with lawmen who were about to arrest him in his hideout in Barangay Punongyanan.
Suzana had pending arrest warrants for murder cases in Malolos, Bulacan and several towns in Cavite.
He was suspected of being behind the killing of an Amadeo barangay chairman two weeks ago.
