NAGUILIAN, Isabela A drunken rookie policeman fatally shot a man and a woman who were just passing by his owner-type jeep here last Saturday night.
The victims, Eva Mauricio, 37, and Richard Dagdag, 17, both residents of Barangay Aguinaldo, died from multiple gunshot wounds from a caliber .45 pistol.
Their attacker, PO1 Victor Guifaya, is now detained and facing criminal and administrative charges.
The two victims were on their way home on board a tricycle from Cauayan City when Guifaya fired at them while they were passing by his parked jeep in Barangay Minnalo.
Responding barangay officials found Guifaya heavily drunk that he had a hard time standing up.
The incident enraged Senior Superintendent Napoleon Estilles, provincial police director, who said he would not allow abusive policemen to taint the good image of the provincial command.
"Crime does not pay. Whoever is the perpetrator, the long arm of the law will always catch up on them," he said. Lito Salatan
