Vizcaya accountant shot

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya The municipal chief accountant here was shot by two motorcycle-riding men in front of his residence yesterday afternoon.
As of press time, Ricardo Piedad, 59, was still fighting for his life at the Veterans Regional Hospital here due to gunshot wounds.
SPO4 Anselmo Dulin, police chief investigator, said that victim was about to enter his residence along Governor Patricio Dumlao Boulevard in Barangay Salvacion when the gunman, who was on board a motorcycle shot him at close range.
Police said Piedad was hit in his right armpit and abdomen.
Responding lawmen, led by Chief Insp. Dionicio de Guzman, Bayombong police chief, who immediately rushed to the crime scene, recovered at least three empty shells of a caliber .45 pistol.
Witnesses said the young-looking suspects fled immediately after shooting the victim.
De Guzman immeditely ordered hot pursuit operations againts Piedads unidentified assailants.
Investigators here refused to issue statements regarding possible motives behind the shooting.
