BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya Classes in the elementary and secondary levels were suspended in most areas of Cagayan Valley yesterday as typhoon "Igme" pounded the regions five provinces with heavy rains and strong winds.
Disaster officials continued to monitor the Cagayan and Magat Rivers here, fearing that several downstream towns in Nueva Vizcaya and Isabela would be flooded if these rivers would overflow due to the continuous heavy rains.
Irrigation officials also raised the alert level in Magat Dam, saying they might be forced to release water if the heavy downpour would continue overnight.
Such an event would see flooding in the Isabela towns of Ramon, San Mateo, San Manuel and Mallig. Charlie Lagasca
