Woman arrested for hitting 2 kids

Police arrested yesterday a 27-year-old pregnant woman for hitting with a belt buckle two young grandsons of her live-in partner in Antipolo City.

Blood oozed from the head and back of the victims, nine-year-old Ronnel and five-year-old Robin, when men of Senior Superintendent Leocadio Santiago, Rizal police director, rescued them after being tipped off by concerned neighbors in Kingsville Subdivision in Barangay Mayamot.

The two children were left under the care of the suspect, Aileen Menegro, by their grandfather who paid a friend a visit. The victim’s mother is working in Dubai.

Menegro admitted hitting the two boys with a belt buckle, claiming she was forced to do so because they were hard-headed and refused to follow her commands.

Police said the two boys, who sustained contusions in different parts of their bodies, were turned over to the custody of the local office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Menegro was detained while appropriate charges were being readied against her. — Non Alquitran
