Batangas LTO exec shot dead

BATANGAS CITY The chief of the Land Transportation Offices Flying Squad here was shot dead while he was on his way to work yesterday morning.
Chief Inspector Mario Alvarez, intelligence chief of the city police, said Honorio Adelantar, 64, a native of Alitagtag, Batangas, was attacked by motorcycle-riding men at about 7:30 a.m.
Adelantar died hours later at the Batangas Regional Hospital from gunshot wounds in the chest and abdomen.
Meanwhile, an accused and a witness in a robbery case were critically wounded when unidentified men shot them after attending a hearing at noon yesterday.
Police said the victim, accused Fredelino Cometa and witness Romulo de Torres, were about to step out of the court premises when they were shot with a caliber .45 pistol.
Cometa was hit in the back, and De Torres in the head.
