Leader of losing Abra bet killed

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet A campaigner of a losing mayoral candidate in Abra was gunned down in front of his house in the capital town of Bangued last Monday morning, police said.
Police identified the victim as Rolando Gavanes, a campaigner of mayoral bet Flor Bernos, an aunt of re-elected Mayor Ysrael Bernos.
Probers said Gavanes was shot with an M-14 rifle and a shotgun, as evidenced by the empty shells found in front of his house in Barangay San Antonio.
A few days after the May 10 polls, a former Bangued barangay chairman, Amor Bringas, a known supporter of losing mayoral candidate Dominic Valera, was shot dead by four men. Artemio Dumlao
