Reyes re-elected Palawan gov

PALAWAN — Re-electionist Gov. Joel Reyes and his entire slate under the Puwersa ng Mamamayang Pa-laweño made a clean sweep of the provincial polls.

The provincial board of canvassers proclaimed Reyes, his vice gubernatorial running mate, David Ponce de Leon, and the two provincial board members-elect last Saturday.

Also declared winner was Edward Hagedorn as mayor of Puerto Princesa City. He beat Dennis Socrates, son of the late former governor Salvador Socrates.

Antonio Alvarez and Abraham Kahlil Mitra were also proclaimed winners in the first and second congressional districts, respectively.

Reyes won by a landslide over Rep. Vicente Sandoval, garnering 141,113 votes over the latter’s 50,500.

Sandoval’s wife, Fidela, lost to Alvarez in the first congressional district.
