Cops await warrants of arrest

- Christina Mendez -
Police are awaiting the issuance of arrest warrants for a German national and four Filipinos linked to the killing of three foreigners and a househelp in Boracay early this month.

Chief Superintendent Joel Goltiao, Philippine National Police spokesman, said immigration authorities have been alerted to prevent German national Uwe Friezel, the primary suspect, from fleeing the country.

"The immigration authorities have been notified. There are agents assigned to closely monitor (Frieze’s) whereabouts on the island," Goltiao said.

Fiezel has been tagged as the primary suspect in the May 3 killing of German property developer Anton Faustenhauser, Swiss-born art gallery owner Manfred Schoeni, Hong Kong-based British architect John James Cowperthwaite and housemaid Erma Sarmiento.

They were found stabbed to death in Faustenhauser’s three-story villa called "Dolce Vita" in Boracay.

Friezel was charged with robbery with homicide along with Chito Catalogo and three John Does in the provincial prosecutor’s office in Kalibo, Aklan last Wednesday.

In indicting Friezel, the police used as evidence a bloodstain on the second floor bathroom that had a footprint that allegedly matched Friezel’s right footprint.

Superintendent Remus Canieso, head of police Task Force Anton, said other findings point to Friezel and Catalogo as the alleged assailants.

Canieso said they are collating other pieces of evidence and testimonies to pin down the three other suspects.
