Abad’s wife wins Congress seat

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan — The wife of Rep. Florencio Abad topped the congressional race in the northernmost province of Batanes, beating former governor Telesforo Castillejo.

Rep. Abad has held the tiny island-province’s lone congressional seat for three consecutive terms.

Figures obtained from the regional office of the Commission on Elections here showed Henedina Razon-Abad with 3,821 votes over Castillejo’s 3,235.

In the gubernatorial race, Gov. Vicente Sato retained his seat by beating Jerman Cacam-de los Santos. Sato garnered 4,361 votes over his closest rival’s 2,795. — Charlie Lagasca
