Killed on the spot were Norma Nuñez, 48, her son Oliver, 14, and infant daughter Mary Joy, according to Senior Superintendent Leo Kison, Quezon police director.
Nuñezs husband, Oscar, 49, and another son, Norman, 18, were injured and rushed to the United Doctors Medical Hospital in this city.
Police said the six-wheeler truck loaded with cases of softdrinks was cruising the highway in Barangay Calumpang when its left front tire burst, causing driver Jamil Chavez, 18, to lose control of the wheel and sending the vehicle plowing into the three houses.
The owners of the two other houses, Jose Iglesia and a certain Maritess, were unscathed.
Police are hunting down Chavez who escaped after the incident. Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, frustrated homicide and damage to property are being readied against him.
