Police to go after bets backing Reds

CEBU — Politicians found supporting communist rebels whether with cash or kind will be criminally charged with disloyalty.

The directive to go after politicians supporting the New People’s Army (NPA) is contained in a memorandum addressed to city and provincial police directors in Central Visayas.

The order said politicians will be charged with disloyalty because supporting rebels is tantamount to "betraying the Filipino people."

Politicians seeking public office for the first time found to have supported the NPA will be charged with violating Section 100 of the Omnibus Election Code.

Recently, the National Democratic Front urged candidates to bring their permit-to-campaign cards during their barangay sorties.

Police, however, warned politicians that mere possession of an NPA-issued permit-to-campaign card will be an evidence against them. — Freeman News Service
