Laguna EENT specialist stabbed dead by robbers

-
SAN PEDRO, Laguna — An EENT (ears, eyes, nose and throat) specialist was stabbed dead by two ski mask-wearing robbers who barged into his home here early yesterday morning, police said.

Superintendent John Ramon Mondejar, this town’s police chief, said Dr. Homerio Calibag, 47, died from three stab wounds in the chest while he was being rushed to the Perpetual Help Hospital here.

Police picked up two teenagers for questioning but released them for lack of evidence.

The teenagers denied any hand in the killing, saying they even helped Calibag’s family bring him to the hospital since they happened to be near the area.

Police said the burglars entered Calibag’s home in Barangay Landayan by forcibly opening a screened window in the kitchen. — Rene Alviar
