4 Tanauan bgay execs ambushed

TANAUAN CITY Four barangay councilmen here survived an ambush yesterday morning, but the wife of one of them was killed, police said.
Police said councilmen Josel Mabait, Tomas Castillo, Nestor Maiquis and Renato de la Rosa and Mabaits wife, Gretel, were cruising the national highway in Barangay Sambat aboard an Isuzu Crosswind when two men blocked their path and fired at them.
Mrs. Mabait, who was driving the vehicle, died while she was being rushed to the Mercado Hospital here. Her husband sustained two bullet wounds in the abdomen. The other councilmen survived unscathed.
Police found three deformed slugs and an empty shell from a caliber .45 pistol. Arnell Ozaeta
