102 ferry passengers rescued

-
ZAMBOANGA CITY — Navy personnel rescued 102 passengers of a ferry that encountered mechanical trouble off Pangutaran Island in Sulu yesterday morning.

Commodore George Uy, chief of the Naval Forces in Western Mindanao, said his men responded to a distress call from the officers of M/L Mora, which had drifted for more than a day.

The ferry, which also carried 2,500 sacks of copra, was en route to this city from Mapun Island in Malaysia.— Roel Pareño
