Ombudsman raps ex-LTO regional head, 2 employees

-
CEBU — The Ombudsman has found a former regional director and two employees of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) guilty of grave misconduct for the questionable sale of confirmation certificates.

Rapped were former LTO executive Porferio Mendoza, his secretary Marilyn Mendoza-Erederos and employee Catalina Alingasa.

The anti-graft office also reprimanded Oscar Peque, officer-in-charge of the LTO’s operation division, for simple misconduct.

Representatives of at least six companies filed the charges against the respondents, saying that when Mendoza took over as LTO regional director, the confirmation certificates were being sold at P2,500 each, allegedly without any official receipts being issued.

The confirmation certificates are one of the requirements in the processing of documents for the registration of vehicles. — Freeman News Service
