9 die, 7 hurt in road mishap

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — Nine people died while seven were seriously hurt when a passenger jeepney fell into a 200-meter deep ravine in Barangay Sidang, Buguias town at about 3:30 p.m. yesterday.

Senior Superintendent Conrado Minano, Benguet police director, said the jeepney was en route to the Buguias town proper from Bauko, Mt. Province when the accident happened.

Initial probe showed that the vehicle suffered a mechanical defect. The identities of the victims were still being verified at press time. — Artemio Dumlao
