Cebuana who survived 5-story fall ties the knot
October 20, 2003 | 12:00am
CEBU CITY Happy endings still come true after all. Andrea Sumbilon, a Cebuana who grabbed the headlines last May after jumping from the fifth floor of a hotel here following an argument with her American fiancé, finally tied the knot with him the other day.
Not even the heavy downpour could stop Sumbilon, 24, and Dean Beatty, 60, from sealing their marriage at the Cebu Christian Center Church.
The wedding was initially scheduled last May but was put off after the incident.
Their relationship blossomed through the Internet with Sumbilon telling Beatty she was only an elementary graduate. Beatty, a businessman, did not mind her educational attainment and quickly flew to Cebu to marry her.
Last May, they went together to open a joint bank account, Beatty, however, was surprised to see her presenting a college identification card.
This led to a heated argument between the two, and Sumbilon later jumped out of their hotel room. She was lucky electric wires caught her and cushioned her fall. Freeman News Service
