Cebu, Visayas seen as major porn markets

CEBU CITY Next to Metro Manila, this city and the entire Visayas are now considered major markets of pornographic materials, such as magazines, tabloids and video recordings, the head of the citys Anti-Indecency Board said.
The statement of board chairman Rene Bullecer came after the regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) confiscated 6,200 copies of magazines, which the board classified as pornographic, in three successive operations at the cargo arrival area of the Mactan Cebu International Airport.
The CIDG operatives seized 800 copies of tabloids and magazines last Saturday, 3,200 copies on Monday, and 2,200 copies the other day, all unloaded from passenger planes.
Since no one came to claim the seized items, they were immediately turned over to Bullecer, with seizure receipts issued to the cargo checker of the airline that transported them.
Bullecer said he will be meeting with leaders of the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu to discuss ways of stopping the proliferation of these materials.
He said only three of five identified consignees had followed his prodding to stop receiving these items after an earlier talk with them. Freeman News Service
