2 BIR execs nabbed for extortion

SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan Two revenue officers of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) regional district office based in Calasiao town were arrested after they were caught receiving P5,000 in marked money from a businessman here Thursday afternoon.
Superintendent Rolando Diaz, San Carlos police chief, told The STAR that revenue officers 2 Rolando Cruz and Deo Dacanay, both 42, were entrapped upon the complaint of Marlon Magalong, manager of Rose Supermarket here.
Diaz said the two BIR employees twice tried to extort money from Magalong until the businessman sought police assistance.
Police are readying extortion and graft charges against the two. Eva Visperas
