Temblor jolts Aklan, Romblon

An Intensity 4 tectonic earthquake jolted Boracay island in Aklan and Odiongan, Romblon at 11:13 Monday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The earthquake, which registered a Magnitude 5.3 on the Richter Scale, was also felt at Intensity 3 in Lezo, Aklan and at Intensity 2 in Marinduque, Phivolcs said.
"The quake was triggered by the Tablas Fault that lies in the eastern side of Tablas Island, one of the major islands of Romblon. The earthquake fault extends to the offshore areas east of Carabao Island in Romblon and Boracay Island," Phivolcs director Renato Solidum said.
The earthquakes epicenter was located at 35 kilometers west of Romblon, Romblon and had a shallow depth of focus at eight kilometers.
