13 Region 11 cops axed, suspended over drugs

DAVAO CITY — At least 13 policemen in Southern Mindanao have reportedly been either dismissed from the service or suspended due to their involvement in the illegal drugs trade.

The Region 11 police command said five of the policemen were from this city, four from Davao Oriental and one each from Davao del Norte, Compostela Valley and the Regional Mobile Group.

There are at least 10 other policemen in Davao Oriental who are reportedly being closely monitored for their involvement in illegal drugs.

All law enforcers in the region are undergoing mandatory drug tests tomorrow as part of the government’s intensified drive against illegal drugs. — Edith Regalado
