2 soldiers killed in gun duel

-
COTABATO CITY — Two feuding soldiers killed each other in a gun duel in President Roxas, North Cotabato yesterday.

Police identified the fatalities as Sgt. Antonio Sinfuego of the Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion, which is under the 6th Infantry Division, and M/Sgt. Rudolfo Cacho of the Army’s Intelligence and Security Unit based in Davao City.

Residents overheard the two arguing along a farm-to-market road in Barangay Sarayan, after which gunshots rang out.

Sinfuego was commander of a joint Army-barangay militia detachment in Barangay Sarayan, while Cacho, a plainclothes Army agent, had reportedly been frequenting the outskirts of President Roxas to monitor movements of communist guerrillas.

Police still have no clues on what the two soldiers fought about. John Unson
