Hunger strike vs Bt corn lifted

Advocates against a genetically engineered corn variety Bt corn lifted their 30-day hunger strike yesterday but vowed a more aggressive campaign against it and other similar crops.
The hunger strikers, led by Roberto Verzola, took yesterday their first solid food of organically grown corn and its soup.
"We did everything humanely possible to stop the Bt seeds at the source. The government has failed us," Verzola said.
The hunger strikers have demanded a halt to the propagation and commercialization of Bt corn seeds, which they said would be out soon with their harvest in the Visayas and Mindanao in the next four months. Katherine Adraneda
