P5-M illegal drugs seized off Boracay Island

- Leo Solinap -
ILOILO CITY — An estimated P5-million worth of illegal drugs were seized on three suspects heading towards Boracay Island last Sunday.

The suspects were identified as Sepero Sakasawa, 30; Jessie Rose Giron, 25 (both of Cityland Tower in Makati) and Vic-vic Perucho, 21, of Cagayan De Oro City.

Chief Supt. Marcelo Navarro, Jr., Region VI police director, told The STAR the three were intercepted at the Catiklan Jetty Port in Malay in Aklan.

Recovered from the suspects were 1,100 pieces Mugadon tablets, 1,732 pieces Ecstacy tablets; three packs of shabu weighing 96.7 grams; one pack of marijuana weighing 24.7 grams; three packs of suspected cocaine; one vial suspected cocaine weighing 3.6 grams and four tablets of Ddiazepom and other drug paraphernalia.

Navarro said it was so far the biggest haul and accomplishment f the Aklan Provincial Police Office (APPO) and the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

"The whole Region VI is focused on illegal drugs operations. I have given them time frame of two months to minimize the illegal drugs in the region," Navarro told The STAR.

He disclosed that this is a new group trying to penetrate Boracay Island after the group of Boy Cuadra, Western Visayas’ number one drug lord, has been paralyzed following Cuadra’s arrest last month in Malay, Aklan.

Navarro said, with Cuadra’s operation paralyzed in Bacolod City and in Boracay Island, new groups from Manila are trying to take over the drug cartel in these areas.
