Camarines cop official survives NPA ambush

The police director of Camarines Sur was critically wounded when suspected New Peoples Army (NPA) rebels fired at his service vehicle the other day, reports reaching Camp Crame said.
Senior Inspector Efren Sabuco was taken to the Bicol Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound in the left face.
A motorist, identified as Lelo Verdadero, whose vehicle was tailing Sabucos patrol car, was hit by a stray bullet in the abdomen.
Reports said the guerrillas waylaid Sabuco in Barangay Sta. Maria, Lagonoy town at about 8:30 a.m.
Earlier that day, NPA rebels flagged down a 10-wheeler ice delivery truck along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Cabungan, Balatan town and then torched it. Jaime Laude
