Intensity 3 quake jolts Ilocos and Cagayan provinces

A mild tectonic earthquake jolted parts of the Ilocos and Cagayan provinces at exactly 1:43 yesterday morning.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake, which registered a magnitude 4.6 on the Richter Scale, was felt at Intensity 3 in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Santo Domingo and Santa, Ilocos Sur and in Peñablanca and Tuguegarao in Cagayan.
Phivolcs said the earthquake was triggered by the movement of the Manila Trench and its epicenter was located at 124 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes.
The quake was not expected to cause any damage or be followed by aftershocks, Phivolcs said yesterday. Felix de los Santos
