Korean tourists lose cash, valuables while shopping

-
CEBU CITY — A Korean couple, here on vacation, told police they lost their bag containing cash and personal belongings allegedly to an unidentified person while they were inside the Marina Mall in barangay Ibo, Lapu-Lapu City, at around 8 p.m. last Tuesday.

Sun Ok Ruy, 28, and his wife Hee Ean Shim, 29, from Koyong City, South Korea, are temporarily billeted at the Cebu Beach Club in barangay Maribago, this city. They were at the Marina Mall when the incident happened.

Shortly after, the two foreigners reported the loss to the Lapu-Lapu Police theft and robbery section. Hee told investigators that while waiting for her husband who went to the comfort room, she placed their bag beside her while seating at the front stairs of the Mall. As soon as her husband arrived, minutes after, and as they were about to leave the place, she noticed the bag was already missing.

They said the bag contained two wallets which have cash amounting to P11,000 and $575, one Sony Photo camera worth $400, one Sony Video Camera worth $1,200, one Samsung CD player worth $200, one lady’s watch worth $300, a cosmetic box, and two sunglasses.

TRS chief Rene Catamora then ordered his men to gather more information on the case and had invited the mall’s security personnel to shed light on the incident.

Catamora said the police had to conduct an investigation since the couple had demanded a police report of the incident.

This case was the second since last month when another Korean national lost his clutch bag containing P31,000 after a suspected robber allegedly broke into his room along Airport Road in barangay Pusok, this city. Freeman News Service
