Murdered woman’s body exhumed in Bulacan

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — The body of a female, believed to be murdered on Jan. 14, was exhumed at a backyard in Barangay Bulihan in the City of Malolos yesterday.

Police said the body of 26 year-old Milani Dela Cruz was discovered by one Danilo Decena, who owns the lot where the cadaver was buried one and a half feet deep.

Initial police investigations showed that on Jan. 17, the victim’s relatives reported to the police that Milani had not yet returned home since Jan. 14.

Probers said that Decena was able to discover the body because of the pungent smell in the area, where the body was already in its advanced decomposing state. Police said that the victim’s hands were tied while her feet were chained and her neck bore stab wounds.

Witnesses told police investigators that on the night of Jan. 14, Jonathan Atlog, a native of Davao del Sur, caretaker of Decena’s house waited for the victim to pass by then dragged her inside the house.

Atlog is now the subject of a manhunt after he reportedly fled after the incident. James Mananghaya
