Couple killed in robbery at San Miguel warehouse

-
CALAMBA CITY — A couple, who managed the security and delivery of San Miguel Corp. (SMC) products in Southern Tagalog, were stabbed dead before dawn yesterday inside an SMC-owned warehouse in Sitio Silangan, Barangay Canlubang, this city.

The victims who sustained multiple stab wounds in their bodies, were identified as Cielito Dizon, 38, an employee of Majel Deliveries, Inc., an SMC products delivery contractor; and his wife Melody, 34, cashier of the same contracting firm.

Chief Superintendent Enrique Galang, police regional director for Calabarzon, said robbery could have motivated the killing as about P329,000 was believed taken by the suspects from the firm’s vault which was placed near the spot where the couple’s bodies were found.

Investigation showed at least three ski-mask wearing men barged into the warehouse at about 2:30 a.m. yesterday and forced the cashier to open the vault.

After the vault was opened, the cashier’s husband arrived and confronted the suspects, which could have led to the stabbing spree.

Galang believed the suspects were co-workers of Majel Deliveries, but did not discount the possibility that it could be perpetrated by robbers living in a squatter colony near the warehouse. — Rene Alviar
