Singaporean kills self; Briton knifed

Failing to win back his Filipina live-in partner, a Singaporean hanged himself in the comfort room of his girlfriend’s house in Oriental Mindoro Saturday morning, police said.

In Iloilo City, meanwhile, British national Michael Flower, 46, was stabbed and critically wounded when a resident, for no apparent reason, attacked him during a Christmas party Saturday morning.

A report reaching Camp Crame said Singaporean Zulcafry Bin Yusoff, alias Jeffrey Poe Jr., 29, went to the house of his girlfriend, Lelita Gutierrez, in Barangay Matungao, Socorro, Oriental Mindoro to patch up their differences.

Despondent after Gutierrez told him that she wanted to end their relationship, Yusoff went to the comfort room and there, hanged himself with a nylon cord.

Yusoff temporarily resided at Tierra Subdivision in Batangas City.

Police said Flower was a guest during a Christmas party in Jaro district in Iloilo City when the suspect, identified as Roland Velasco, approached him from behind and stabbed him twice.

Velasco fled after the incident and is now being hunted down.

Flower, who suffered stab wounds in the back and upper arm, is confined at the Iloilo Mission Hospital. — With AFP
