Campos finally laid to rest in Cebu

-
Cebuano Police Supt. John Campos was buried with full military honors at the Cebu Memorial Park at noon yesterday leaving behind family members and friends who all cried for the speedy resolution of his death.

Around 500 people paid their last respects including Senator Panfilo Lacson who vowed to attain justice for Campos whom he described as "his long lost son."

Campos, 36, was shot dead by an unidentified gunman inside an eatery while having a snack with Antonio Cabanban in Parañaque City in the early dawn of Dec. 5.

Cabanban, who is now tagged as the prime suspect in the death of his friend refused to comment on the latest development telling the media to wait for the investigation to finish.

But Campos’ elder brother Sergio said investigators should fast-track their investigation to find out the truth and in a way clear the name of those who have been implicated like Cabanban.

Sergio welcomed Lacson’s promise of a parallel investigation to help speed up the resolution of the case since it has been more than a week and there are no concrete results yet.

Lacson said he and other friends of Campos have agreed to help in whatever capacity to obtain information vital to the solution of the case.

As this developed, Sergio thank everybody who supported them and appealed to all to help them pray so that justice will be served immediately.

At the necrological service at the St. Ignatius Chapel in Camp Sergio Osmeña, people close to Campos described him as selfless, humble, down to earth, friendly, brave and accommodating.Freeman News Service
