Suspect in cops’ ambush nabbed

ILAGAN, Isabela — A suspect in last Saturday’s failed ambush of four policemen in Angadanan town was nabbed at a checkpoint here.

Police said the suspect, Dante Mostales, yielded a homemade shotgun and a 9-mm Llama pistol.

Probers believe Mostales was one of six men, suspected to belong to a crime syndicate, who lobbed a grenade at the patrol car of the four policemen.

Senior Superintendent Nelson Nario, provincial police director, said the four cops were checking out a report of extortion activities when they were attacked. — Charlie Lagasca
