CBCP warns personnel vs accepting presents

With bomb scare sweeping the country, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Phils. (CBCP) warned all its personnel and probably other Catholics as well against accepting Christmas gifts at this time.

In a memorandum order to all personnel, CBCP assistant secretary general manager Gilbert Garcera said Christmas gifts must be accepted only with extra caution.

"Please do not just accept gifts for Christmas. Check the sender and the kind of package," Garcera stressed.

In case of doubt, Garcera advised, CBCP personnel should immediately inform the security on duty and do not just open it up for safety precautions.

Garcera also called on CBCP personnel to take note of an information on how to detect bombs. The information is now being circulated in Zamboanga, Basilan and Jolo.

He said they should watch out for heavy package that is bulky, with oily stain on wrapping, has small holes and ticking sound.

CBCP personnel are also prohibited from accepting bags with protruding wires and those with strange odor. Mayen Jaymalin
