11 poorest provinces identified

-
Did you know the country’s 11 poorest provinces?

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provides the answer: Quezon, Zamboanga del Norte, Lanao del Norte, Davao del Norte, Sarangani, Agusan del Norte, Iloilo, Ifugao, Masbate, Siquijor and Eastern Samar.

This came up after the DSWD conducted a poverty-mapping program to identify provinces that should be given priority in government development projects.

The DSWD hopes to use the data when it launches the World Bank-funded Kapitbisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) program early next year. — Rainier Allan Ronda
