2 killed, 1 injured in bus-trike collision

SAN MIGUEL, Bulacan Two persons were killed while one was seriously injured when a passenger bus collided with a tricycle along the National Highway in Barangay Balite in this town Sunday night.
Police identified the fatality as Jayson Pelayo, 18 of Barangay Bagong Pag-asa in this town. Roderick Vinuya, who was also riding in the tricycle driven by Pelayo, was seriously injured.
Police said the northbound bus, driven by Demetrio Trinidad, 58 of Quezon City collided with the tricycle which was heading south and was overtaking another vehicle, Pelayo not noticing the fast-approaching bus.
Police said the bus driver is now detained at the San Miguel Police station and is facing charges in reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, and serious physical injuries with damage to property.
Meanwhile, tricycle driver Noel Lopez, 35, of Barangay Sto. Niño in Plaridel town was killed Saturday night when he lost control of the tricycle he was driving and slammed into a concrete fence killing him on the spot.
