ILIGAN CITY A teller of the Land Bank of the Philippines was killed and two of his security escorts were wounded in a shootout with robbers who tried to take the P3.2 million they were carrying but failed here yesterday.
Police said Tarambesa Sarosong, teller of Landbanks Marawi City branch, had just withdrawn the money from the Landbank here when the robbers, aboard a Tamaraw FX and a motorcycle, blocked their path.
But Sarosongs security escorts shot it out with the robbers, resulting in the death of the bank teller and wounding of Lucaman Balinte and Rolando Sabenorio, two of his escorts.
The robbers fled without the money when policemen, alerted about the incident, began to arrive.
