Abducted Angeles cop found dead

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A police detachment chief in Angeles City who was forcibly taken by three men from inside a videoke bar Sunday night was found dead yesterday, authorities said.

The body of Senior Inspector Isabelo Bernardez, chief of Kababayan police station 5 in Barangay Cauayan, Angeles, had swelling in many parts, and his head had a fracture.

Bernardez’s remains were found in a vacant lot at the St. Benedict Subdivision in Barangay Maimpis, Angeles City.

Investigation showed the police officer was dragged out of a videoke bar and forced into his Kia Pride which sped toward the south. The vehicle was found abandoned in a remote area in San Simon town. — Ric Sapnu
