Gov. Rodolfo Agbayani said they have been waiting for a new provincial police director to take the place of Senior Superintendent Romeo Hilomen who reached his mandatory two-year tour of duty in Cagayan Valley as early as June.
Hilomen, however, said nobody among his colleagues is interested to replace him. This, he said, is apparently due to the lack of "additional livelihood" in the province.
He was referring to jueteng as additional "source of income" for a police chief. He said most candidates for provincial police director are avoiding this landlocked province due to the absence of the illegal numbers game.
Last May, Agbayani said the leadership of the Philippine National Police (PNP) submitted to him three nominees as possible replacement of Hilomen. Charlie Lagasca
