Shallow backyard pit contains body of slain househelp

BACOLOD CITY — A shallow pit with flies buzzing around it yielded the remains of a 74-year-old househelp who, police said, was clubbed to death by his amo, an alleged drug user under rehabilitation, last Sunday.

The body of widower Romeo Vasco Buyco was discovered by his fellow caretaker buried in a shallow grave at the backyard of suspect Benito John Genito, 41.

Police said Buyco had head injuries inflicted by a piece of wood.

Genito, now locked up at police Precinct 7 here, refused to comment, except saying he was "disturbed." — Antonieta Lopez
