Calamity aid awaits fire-hit Cebu sitio

CEBU CITY The city government is set to declare Sitio Upper Kawayan in Barangay Sambag II as a calamity stricken-area following Saturdays fire which left three people dead and rendered 228 families homeless.
Councilor Gerardo Carillo, chairman of the city councils committee on social services, said he will introduce a resolution declaring Upper Kawayan a calamity-stricken area when their regular session resumes tomorrow.
Carillo said his resolution would facilitate the release of calamity funds needed for relief and rehabilitation efforts of the city government. Freeman News Service
