Impeach rap vs Tancangco set

The House bloc pushing for the impeachment of Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Luzviminda Tancangco hopes to gather eight more signatures to file the complaint with the House committee on justice by Aug. 6.

Bacolod City Rep. Monico Fuentebella, who is spearheading the oust-Tancangco move, said they have so far secured 64 signatures of the 72 required for the House to transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate.

"If she (Tancangco) needs a day in court, this is it," he said.

A group calling itself the "People versus Tancangco Movement" has faulted her for the poll body’s failure to fully automate the electoral system. — Marvin Sy
