400 cops deployed for Mikey’s wedding

- Ding Cervantes -
LUBAO, Pampanga — No less than 400 policemen and a platoon of Army soldiers will be deployed here and in all routes leading to this town starting today for the wedding of presidential son Vice Gov. Mikey Arroyo at the San Agustin church tomorrow morning.

The entire First Family and the country’s top officials from the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government are expected to be joined by hundreds , if not thousands of Pampanga folk to witness the wedding of Mikey and Angela Montenegro, a former fashion model based in London.

Provincial police chief Senior Supt. Arturo Cacdac said that Task Force Mikey has been formed to provide security, as well as traffic and parking assistance to guests at the wedding to be held at the San Agustin church in the heart of this town, birthplace of Mikey’s grandfather former President Diosdado Macapagal.

"About 200 policemen from the provincial police force and one platoon of Army soldiers will be deployed for the wedding," Cacdac said. There would also be more from the Regional Mobile Group.

He also said that the Presidential Security Guards (PSG) would provide security within the church which could accommodate some 700 seated guests.

"The task force personnel would take care of traffic, parking, and security in all areas outside the church, including routes to Lubao from the south and from the north", he said.

The task force is headed by Senior Supt. Ed Doromal , deputy chief for operations of the Central Luzon police.

Cacdac explained that the task force would have under it task force road security whose members are to be deployed along routes from Clark Field to Lubao, as well as task group- wedding, headed by Lubao police chief Supt. Edwin Mangiliman, which would take care of the traffic and parking in areas within this town.

With no less than 500 vehicles expected at the wedding, one-way traffic would be implemented within Lubao where three areas have been designated parking zones, including the Lubao-Sasmuan road which would be closed to traffic.

Mikey said he would want a "simple but elegant wedding" and that honeymoon would have to wait until he has finished unfinished tasks at the provincial capitol. He said that he and Angela would definitely not go for a honeymoon in the US until after the birthday of First Gentleman Mike Arroyo on June 27.
