Jail warden suspended for giving Korean VIP treatment

-
Rizal Gov. Rebecca Ynares has suspended the provincial jail warden for 30 days for allegedly giving special treatment to a Korean accused of murder.

Ynares also ordered an investigation into reports that the jail warden, Senior Inspector Ricardo de Guzman, had acted as "part-time tourist guide" of Sak Yu Park, 54, who is charged with murder in the Antipolo City Regional Trial Court.

A jail guard had spilled the beans on De Guzman, reporting that he (De Guzman) allegedly often accompanied the Korean in bars and in attending to his business transactions.

De Guzman also allegedly accompanied Sak to visit his house in Antipolo, even using the service vehicles of the provincial jail with his nephew as driver in these sorties.

Ynares said she would not tolerate such a wrongdoing and that appropriate action would be taken against those involved in illegal activities.

She said all inmates must be treated equally but their rights should always be respected by jail personnel.
